Supersedes T.B. 00-95-02, dated Nov. 20, 1995

Beginning with Model Year 1994 (1993 in California), EPA regulations require that certain words and terms (nomenclature) must be uniformly applied by all manufacturers in their Service Literature. when referring to emission related components and systems.

Some of the new terms may at first seem unfamiliar but they will be used uniformly by all manufacturers when referring to these same components or systems.

This technical bulletin is a living document. While not complete, this list attempts to cover those applications presently being used by Audi and Volkswagen Publications. When new nomenclature is developed, this technical bulletin will be updated.

Use the information contained in this Technical Bulletin as a reference when naming or identifying components. Additions to the previous bulletin appear in bold.
