Right Side






COMPONENT NOTES AND INFORMATION
1 Right flanged shaft
2 Oil seal
- For right flanged shaft
3 Oil seal
- For left flanged shaft
- Replacing, refer to Left Side Seal.
4 Left flanged shaft
5 Magnetic ring for speedometer Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) - Replacing, refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
6 Speedometer Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
- Replacing, refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators


PROCEDURE

NOTE:
^ Refer to General Repair Instructions.
^ Transmission installed

- Remove three way catalytic converters.
- Disconnect drive axle from flanged shaft.
- Turn steering to full lock and tie up drive axle.





- Remove mounting screw for flanged shaft (arrow).
To loosen the mounting screw, screw two bolts in the flanged shaft and counter-hold with assembly lever.
- Place oil drip tray below transmission.
- Remove flanged shaft.





- Pry out oil seal for flanged shaft with assembly lever.
- Pack space between sealing lips of new oil seal with multipurpose grease.





- Drive in seal as far as stop.
- Install flanged shaft.
- Install drive axle.
- Check gear oil in final drive, refer to Checking/Filling Differential (Final Drive) Oil.
- Install three way catalytic converters, refer to powertrain management.
- Tightening torques
Flanged shaft to transmission: 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
Drive axle to flanged shaft: 80 Nm (59 ft lb)
