Headlights, Removing and Installing

NOTE: For vehicles with headlight washer system (not shown), remove headlight washer telescope.

Removing





- Remove screw -A-.
- Slide frame outward in direction of arrow -B-.
- Remove headlight securing screws (arrows).





- Remove headlight and turn signal assemblies from front.
- Remove plug -A- (headlight).
- Remove plug -B- (turn signal).
- Press clip (arrow) and slide turn signal/parking light assembly forward from headlight housing.





Installing (Audi 100 models only)

Install headlight in reverse order of removal noting the following:





- Before installing headlight assembly, check measurement -A- and adjust if necessary.
Measurement -A-: measure from inside edge of lens to inner side of mounting bracket -C
- Must be 35 mm (1.4 in.)

If NOT:

- Turn adjusting screw -B- until measurement is correct.





- After headlight assembly is installed, check hood-to-head- light lens dimension -A-.
- Must be 6 mm (0.24 in.)
- Check alignment -B- of headlight lens.
- Must be parallel to engine grille
- Adjust headlights.

Installing (Audi S4 only)
Install headlight in reverse order of removal.
- Adjust headlights.
