Function Description
The Audi navigation system III processes the signals of the world wide satellite navigation system GPS (Global Positioning System).

After start of operation, the vehicle location is determined with help from the signals for the satellite navigation system GPS.

If the vehicle is located in an area that is not recognized by the navigation-CD (country, city or street), the display "OFF ROAD" or "OFF MAP" appears in the display of the instrument cluster. Then only the straight line distance and direction to destination will be displayed, since the navigation system cannot compare the GPS signals and the vehicle measuring values with the stored information in this case.

Driving directions are not only played back acoustically (language), but are also represented as visual driving suggestions (arrows, turning suggestions) on the combination center display.

The navigation system is equipped with a DTC memory. When malfunctions occur in monitored components or wiring, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are stored in DTC memory with a description of the malfunction type.
