A/C Compressor, Removing and Installing

NOTE: The following procedure describes compressor removal and re-installation only. Compressor replacement requires additional procedures and steps.

- Discharge refrigerant system.
- Remove compressor drive belt.
- Remove compressor from mounting bracket.
- Remove low and high pressure lines from compressor.
- Replace low/high pressure line O-rings, 17.2 mm; 1.8 mm.
- Install compressor, noting pressure line tightening torques:
- Low pressure connection: 40 Nm (30 ft lb)
- High pressure connection: 30 Nm (22 ft lb)
- Evacuate and charge refrigerant system.
- Check A/C system cooling performance.

CAUTION!
Immediately plug open connections on A/C components and lines to prevent dirt and moisture contamination.

NOTE:
- After compressor installation, rotate clutch by hand approximately 10 turns.
- When using A/C system for the first time after compressor re-installation, start engine with A/C system switched "OFF" and allow engine idle to stabilize. Turn A/C system "ON" (compressor engages) and let engine idle for at least 10 minutes before proceeding with further testing.
