Power Window Switch: Testing and Inspection

- Using small screwdriver, carefully pry switch console or switch from door trim.
- Disconnect harness connector from switch being checked.
- Set digital multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to measure resistance (ohm) measuring range, and check resistance between switch terminals:

- Terminals -2- and -5-; terminals -1- and -3-

- Specification: 0 ohms (continuity)

- Connect multimeter between switch terminals -2- and -4-.

Specification: Infinity ohms (no continuity)

- Operate window switch (to lower window).

Specification: 0 ohms (continuity)

- Connect multimeter between terminals -1- and -4- of switch.

Specification: Infinity ohms (no continuity)

- Operate window switch (to raise window).

Specification: 0 ohms (continuity)

If resistance is not as specified:
- Replace window switch.
