Hydraulic System, Bleeding and Filling
Hydraulic system, bleeding and fillingNotes:
• The convertible top must be fully retracted into the storage compartment when filling the hydraulic system because fluid is displaced by the movement of the hydraulic pistons.
• For this reason, the fluid level may be slightly lower when the convertible top is closed.
Bleeding
Note: The hydraulic system is self-bleeding and can be bled by operating it several times.
- Start engine.
- Operate switch to open and close convertible top four to five times.
• Hydraulic system will self-bleed when convertible top is opened and closed
• Convertible top must open and close smoothly and uniformly
- Check fluid level in sight glass with convertible top open and top off if necessary.
Filling
Note: The convertible top has a closed hydraulic system which normally only needs refilling if it is opened (e.g. to replace components).
• Convertible top hydraulic system fluid. Part No. G 002 500
CAUTION!
• Part numbers are listed here for reference only.
• Do not fill the system above the "MAX" mark. Overfilling can cause excessive pressure in the system which could damage components.
• When refilling, the convertible top must be electrically retracted into the storage compartment
• Hydraulic fluid can be added using an oil can
• Filler plug -2-is used to fill the hydraulic system at the factory
- Remove filler plug -1-.
- Add only enough fluid to bring level up to between "MIN" and "MAX" marks.
- Install filler plug -1-.
Tightening torque: 5 Nm (44 in lb).
- Operate switch to open and close convertible top several times.
If fluid level drops:
- Top off fluid level again.
Note: If the hydraulic pump does not have a filler plug at the top, hydraulic fluid can be added at the other filler plug (arrow).
- Operate switch to open and close convertible top several times.
If fluid level drops:
- Top off fluid level again.
