Engine Lubrication: Service and Repair

NOTES:
^ The oil check valves prevent oil from draining out of the hydraulic lifters when the engine is not running.
^ The oil check valves must be replaced if irregular valve train noise develops during stop and go driving but then goes away on long drives.

- Remove intake manifold.
- Remove cover plate beneath intake manifold.





- Replace oil check valves.

Tightening torques
- Intake manifold: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
- Cover: 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)
- Oil check valves: 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.)
