Erase Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory (Function 05)

Required special tools and test equipment
- VAG 1551/VAG 1552 Scan Tool (ST) with VAG 1551/3 adapter cable

Test condition
- Malfunction(s) repaired


NOTE: If DTC memory has been erased, generate new readiness code. Readiness Code, Generating


Erasing

- Connect VAG 1551/VAG 1552 Scan Tool (ST) and press buttons -0- and -1- to insert "Engine Electronics" address word 01 (engine running at idle). Connecting VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool

- Press buttons -0- and -2- to select "Check DTC Memory" function 02, and press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Press -> button to step through program sequence until all stored malfunctions have been displayed.

- Press -> button to advance program sequence.

- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06, and press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Road test.
- Initiate "Automatic Test Sequence" by pressing -0- button twice to insert address word 00.
- Check readiness code. If DTC memory has been erased, or ECM has been disconnected from B+ power supply, generate readiness code.
