Checking DTC Memory
^ Observe requirements for test. Troubleshooting ABS & ESP, Safety Precautions & General Notes
^ Connect VAG1551 scan tool and select address word 03 for "Brake electronics".
^ Check the control module version. Check Control Module Versions (Function 01)
^ Press buttons -0- and -2- to select function "Check DTC Memory" and confirm with button -Q-.

Notes:
^ Every malfunction that can be detected by the system has a 5-digit DTC, which is listed in the left-hand column of the DTC table. The message identifying the malfunction and the DTC will be printed out on the printer of VAG 1551 scan tool if the PRINT button is pressed. The malfunction does not appear on the display of VAG 1551 scan tool.
^ The contents of the DTC memory remains stored until the memory is erased.
^ Sporadically occurring malfunctions are additionally identified as such, with "/SP" appearing on the right of the display.
^ Static malfunctions, which cannot be detected when the vehicle is stationary are also identified with "/SP" after the ignition has been switched off and then on again.
^ The table includes all the malfunctions which can be detected by the ABS control module (w/EDL) -J104- and displayed and printed out by VAG 1551 scan tool. Malfunctions are listed according to DTC's.
