Transmission Mode Switch: Service and Repair

Tiptronic Switch -F189, A/T 01V

Removing:
- Remove center console and extension.
- Remove handle for selector lever see Fig. 7.





- Carefully disengage 4 clips -arrows- and remove cover upward.

Note: If clips are damaged or broken, replace the applicable components.





- Lift out printed circuit board with small screwdriver over 3 clips-arrows-.
- Remove printed circuit board with integrated Tiptronic Switch.

Note: If the printed circuit board is glued into the cover, replace the complete cover with printed circuit board.

Installing:
- Insert printed circuit board with integrated Tiptronic Switch into cover of shift mechanism.
- By carefully pressing on the printed circuit board it must snap into the cover.





Note: The 3 clips -arrows- must engage visibly above the printed circuit board.





- Place cover onto the guide of sliding cover and snap clips -arrows- in place.
- Install handle for selector lever see Fig. 7.
- Install center console and extension.

Removing
- Remove center console and extension.
- Disconnect connector -1- for Shift Lock Solenoid Switch -2- (not visible in illustration).
- Unclip and lift out cover-3-.
- Remove connector -4- for transmission range position and Tiptronic in direction of arrow.
- Disconnect wiring at connector -5-.

Installing:
- Install in reverse order of removal.

Removing
- Move selector lever to position "3".
- Push sleeve -1- down to stop.
- Pull button -2- to stop (dimension "a") out of selector lever handle -3- and pull handle upward.
Dimension "a" = 3 mm

Installing
- Move selector lever to position "3".
- Carefully pull out knob -2- to dimension "a" out of selector lever handle -3-.
- At the same time attach handle -3- with knob -2- in driving direction on selector lever to stop.
- Turn handle -3- until knob -2- is pointing to driver. This causes the handle to engage into the grove of the selector lever.





- Attach handle -3- completely to selector lever. It must engage into circular grove of selector lever.
- Push in knob -2- in handle of selector lever -3-.
- Pull up sleeve -1- until it engages in handle -3-.

Removing
- To remove lock cable, slightly lift securing spring upward -arrow B-.
- Disengage spring -arrow A- at attachment hook -arrow C- and remove upward.

Installing
- Insert spring from above -arrow Band attach to attachment hook -arrow C-.
- Adjust spring to fit evenly in groove -arrow A-.
- To install lock cable, lift spring slightly arrow B-.
