Electrical/electronic components and component locations





1. Hydraulic unit for ABS/EDL/ASR/ESP -N55-
The hydraulic unit consists of the following components:
ABS hydraulic pump -V64-
Valve block (contains inlet and outlet valves)
When replacing the hydraulic unit, always close old unit with plugs from repair set 1H0 698 311 A.

2. ABS control module (w/EDL) -J104-
Checked electrically via On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
Installation location: At hydraulic unit on left side of engine compartment.
Test of multi-pin connector to control module
Do not disconnect harness connector until after successful On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Switch ignition off before disconnecting harness connector.

3. Brake light switch -F-
Brake light switch is open in rest position
Adjusting
Can be checked in measuring value block

4. Steering angle sensor -G85-
Checked electrically via On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
Installation location: On steering column between steering wheel and steering column switch.
Can be checked in measuring value block
Observe installation procedure

5. Sensor -1- for brake pressure -G201-
Checked electrically via On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
Sender -1- for brake booster and sensor -2- for brake pressure are identical parts
Sensor -1- for brake pressure can also installed in position 6, sender -2- for brake booster
Can be checked in measuring value block
Removing and installing

6. Sender -2- for brake booster -G214-
Checked electrically via On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
Sender -1- for brake booster and sensor -2- for brake pressure are identical parts
Sensor -1- for brake pressure can also installed in position 5, sender -2- for brake booster
Can be checked in measuring value block
Removing and installing

7. Cable hole
Brake recognition switch (ESP) -F83-
Magnetic coil for brake pressure, in brake booster -N247-

8. Harness connector T14
Switch for brake recognition
Magnetic coil for brake pressure, in brake booster
Sender -1- for brake booster -G201-
Sensor -2- for brake pressure -G214-

9. Brake booster
The brake booster consists of the following components:
Brake recognition switch (ESP) -F83-
Magnetic coil for brake pressure, in brake booster -N247-
Removing and installing

10. Sensor for transverse acceleration -G200-
Checked electrically via On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
Installation location: Next to steering column
Can be checked in measuring value block
Observe installation procedure

11. Sender for rotation rate -G202-
Checked electrically via On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
Installation location: Next to steering column
Can be checked in measuring value block
Observe installation procedure

12. Data Link Connector (DLC)
Installation location: Front left footwell, next to hood opener

13. Right and left front ABS wheel speed sensors -G45- / -G47-
Checked electrically via On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
Before inserting sensor, clean inner surface of sensor mount and coat with securing grease G 000 650.
Be sure not to twist wheel speed sensor wire in wheel housing when installing wheel speed sensor.
Tightening torque of bolt - 10 Nm

14. Wheel hub with shutter wheel for right front and left wheel speed sensors
Removing and installing

15. Right and left rear ABS wheel speed sensors -G44- / -G46-
Checked electrically via On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
Installation instructions => item 13

16. Wheel hub with shutter wheel for right rear and left wheel speed sensors
Removing and installing

17. ESP control lamp -K155-
Installation location: In instrument cluster
Function

18. "Brake malfunction" symbol
Appears in instrument cluster
Function

19. Parking brake indicator light -K14-
Installation location: In instrument cluster
Function

20. ABS warning light -K47-
Installation location: In instrument cluster
Function

21. Longitudinal acceleration sensor -G251-
Only for All Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles with Haldex coupling
Installation location: at right A-pillar, at height of instrument panel
Checked electrically via On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
Can be checked in measuring value block
