Erasing DTC Memory (Function 05)

DTC memory, erasing

- Connect VAS5051 vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system or VAG 1551 scan tool and select control module for engine electronics using "address word" 01.
- Engine should run at idle for this.

NOTE: If engine doesn't start, crank engine using starter for at least 5 seconds. Do not switch ignition off until after testing.

When indicated on display

Select function XX

- Press buttons "02" for the function "Check DTC Memory" and press Q button to confirm input.

When indicated on display

No DTC recognized

- Press -> button.

When indicated on display

X DTC recognized

When printer is switched on, stored DTCs are shown in sequence and printed.
- Find printed Dtcs in DTC table and carry out repairs as necessary.

NOTE:
IMPORTANT!
- If there are no DTCS in DTC memory, the DTC memory should not be unnecessarily erased otherwise the readiness code will be lost.
- If DTC memory was erased, readiness code must be re - generated.

- Press buttons "05" for the function 11Erase DTC Memory" and press Q button to confirm input

Attention!
DTC memory is not interrogated.

NOTE: When indicated on display, the procedure was not followed exactly.

- Check DTC memory:

DTC memory will not be erased under the following conditions:
- Ignition switched off after DTC memory is checked.
- A static malfunction was not repaired.

When indicated on display

Rapid data transfer ->
DTC memory is erased!

- Press -> button.
- Check DTC memory again after repair work:

NOTE: This erases DTCs that were stored during repair of malfunction, e.g. because harness connectors were disconnected.
