Clutch mechanism, servicing

CAUTION: Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
^ Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.
^ Switch the ignition off.
^ Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
^ On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar(R) switch-off the emergency (backup) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module prior to disconnecting vehicle battery go to Repair Information Communication.
^ After reconnecting vehicle battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio. Also check operation of clock and power windows.
^ After reconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar(R) switch-on the emergency (backup) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module go to Repair Information Communication.

Notes:
^ Disconnect battery Ground strap with the ignition switched off
^ Lubricate all bearings and contact surfaces with polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A 2.
^ Before working on pedal cluster, remove cover below dash panel:
^ Ensure that no brake fluid escapes into the footwell, plenum chamber or onto the transmission below. If this does happen, clean the affected areas thoroughly.
^ When performing work in the footwell, put cloths on the carpet to protect it from possible brake fluid spills.
