Lateral Acceleration Sensor: Service and Repair

Lateral Acceleration Sensor, Removing And Installing


NOTE:
- A lateral acceleration sensor is installed under each of the front seats.
- The two sensors are identical.
- Arrow faces outward on installation.


Removing
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap/cable.
- Remove front seat.
- Remove lower A-pillar trim.
- Unclip sill panel trim on inside.
- Unplug connector -2- for lateral acceleration sensor -1-.







- Remove screws -3- (2x).
Tightening torque: 6 Nm (53 in.lb)
- Remove lateral acceleration sensor -1-.

Installing
- Switch on ignition.
- Close doors.


WARNING!
Make sure there nobody is inside the vehicle.


- Connect battery Ground (GND) strap.


NOTE:
- After connecting battery, check vehicle equipment (radio, clock, power windows).
- If the airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K75- signals a malfunction after assembling then the DTC memory must be erased and checked again with VAG 1551 scan tool
