Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Central Locking System On Board Diagnostic (OBD)

General notes
Unlike the previous system, which was pneumatically operated, the new-generation central locking system operates via electric motors.

The lock modules in the doors (door locks) have two electric motors each. The lock modules in for the tailgate and tank flap have only one. The first motor locks the doors and the second activates the deadlock or lock isolating function ("SAFE" function). This means that when the door is locked from the outside (via the door lock or using the remote control) the vehicle is protected against theft and cannot be unlocked from the inside. The contact switches in the lock modules inform the control module of the status of the locks.

All the normal convenience functions, including the interior lighting control, the security central locking and the anti-theft alarm with interior monitoring and radio-operated remote control, can be operated with the electrical central locking system.

Procedure for matching new keys with remote control function and for re-matching existing keys.

If the Airbag Control Module is activated, a signal is sent automatically to the central locking system to open the locks.
