Working on Fuel Supply, Safety Rules




WARNING!
Fuel supply pipes are under pressure! Before removing from hose connection wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection.



The following steps should be taken before beginning work on the fuel supply:
- Switch ignition off and disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Open fuel filler cap briefly and then close again.

When removing and installing components from full or partially full fuel tanks, the following must be observed:
- Fuel tank may be only a maximum of 1/3 full.
- Remove fuel from tank as described. If necessary, vehicles with Front Wheel Drive (FWD), vehicles with All Wheel Drive (AWD). Testing and Inspection
- Before starting work, switch on exhaust extraction system and place an extraction hose close to the sensor opening in fuel tank to extract escaping fuel fumes. If no exhaust extraction system is available, a radial fan (as long as motor is not in air flow) with a displacement greater than 15 m3 /h can be used.
- Prevent gasoline from contacting skin! Wear fuel-resistant gloves!
Before removal of complete fuel tank, tank must be emptied for weight considerations.
