Connecting VAG 1551

VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST), Connecting

NOTE: The vehicle system tester VAG 1552 can be used instead of the VAG 1551 Scan tool, however a print-out is not possible.

Test conditions
- Battery voltage at least 11 V
- Ground connections on engine and transmission OK
- Fuse OK
- Remove cover for diagnostic socket.







With ignition switched off, connect VAG 1551 to diagnostic connection using diagnosis lead VAG 1551/3; or connect VAS 5051 using diagnosis lead VAS 5051/1 or diagnosis adapter VAS 5051/2.

NOTE: If the display remains blank:

- Switch on printer with the Print button (Warning lamp in button lights up).
- Press button -1- for "Rapid data transfer."

NOTE: Address word 00 is used to carry out the automatic test sequence, i.e. checking DTC memory via rapid data transfer for all vehicle systems with On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capability.
