Seat, Removing And Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1332
NOTE: Before disconnecting battery: Obtain radio code.
1 - Front seat
- Removal:
CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.
- Remove front seat rail covers.
- Remove rear seat rail covers.
- Push front seat - 1 - fully upward and to the rear.
- Remove front bolts - 2 - (2x).
- Move seat forward.
- Remove rear bolts - 2 - (2x).
- Disconnect battery ground wire.
CAUTION: Before handling airbag units (e.g. disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "electrostatically discharge". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.
- Tip front seat - 1 - back.
- Disconnect harness connectors.
- Connect airbag adapter.
- Installing:
Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
CAUTION:
- Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.
- Before handling airbag units (e.g. disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "electrostatically discharge". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.
- Remove Airbag Adapter VAS 6036 only after installing front seat.
NOTE: Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
- Connect connector to couplings on connector station location in floor.
- Switch on ignition.
CAUTION: Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect battery ground wire with ignition switched on.
- If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K75 indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B.
