Special tools and equipment
- V.A.G 1318/17-1 Adapter
- VAG 1348/3A and VAG 1348/3-2
- Fuel-resistant measuring container
Requirements for test
- Battery voltage not less than 12.7 V
- Fuel filter OK
- The fuel tank must be at least 1/4 full.
- Fuel pressure regulator OK.
- Ignition switched off
Test sequence
- Open fuse box cover on the left side of the instrument panel.
- Pull Fuse in fuse holder -S228- out of plug-in position 28 of fuse carrier (left row, 5th large fuse from the top).
- Connect remote control VAG 1348/3A together with adapter cable VAG 1348/3-2 to right-hand fuse socket terminal of Fuse in fuse holder -S228- (plug-in position No. 28).
- Connect clamp to vehicle battery positive (+).
- Remove filler cap from fuel tank filler neck.
Sedan:
- Detach trim in luggage compartment.
- Fold down rear right seat backrest if necessary.
Avant:
- Remove 1/3 backrest, left.
- Remove left side trim of luggage compartment and protective pan.
All models:
- Detach cover for flange -arrows-.
WARNING: The fuel system is under pressure. Before opening the system, place a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
- Disconnect fuel return pipe -arrow- (press release tab).
NOTE: The fuel supply pipe -1- remains connected.
- Fit adapter V.A.G 1318/17-1 onto disconnected fuel return pipe and hold pipe in measuring container.
- Operate remote control for 15 seconds (keep button pressed).
- Compare the quantity of fuel delivered with specification.
*) Minimum delivery cubic centimeter/15 seconds
**) Voltage at fuel pump with engine stationary and pump running (approx. 2 volts less than battery voltage).
- Connect fuel return hose.
