- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331







- Engine and transmission holder VAS 6095







- Fixture for seat repair VAS 6136

CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.







1 - Backrest

- Removal:
- Remove seat.
- Mount the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 on the engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.
- Unclip seat rail panel on tunnel side - 5 -.
- Remove bolt - 6 -.
- Remove bolt - 7 -.
- Remove clip - 8 -.
- Remove tab - 9 - with clip.
- Remove backrest panel on tunnel side - 3 - to side.
- Remove backrest adjusting wheel - 10 -.
- Release clip - 11 - (2x).
- Remove backrest panel on door sill side - 4 -.
- Disengage rubber strap on door sill side - 12 -.
- Disengage rubber strap on tunnel side - 13 -.
- Cut through backrest wiring cable tie with a diagonal cutter.
- Press in tab on airbag connector - 14 - (yellow) and remove it.
- Press in tab on connector for heated backrest - 15 - (black) and remove it.
- Slide backrest wiring through seat pan.
- Remove bolt - 16 - (4x).
- Remove backrest - 1 -.

- Installing:
Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
- If backrest adjustment wheel is too loose after installation, replace wheel.

4 - Sill-side backrest trim
5 - Tunnel-side seat rail trim
6 - Screw
7 - Screw
8 - Clip
9 - Tab
10 - Backrest adjusting wheel
11 - Clip(Qty. 2)
12 - Sill-side rubber strap
13 - Tunnel-side rubber strap
14 - Airbag connector
15 - Backrest heating connector
16 - Bolt(Qty. 4)
- Tightening torque 20 Nm
- Self-locking
- Replace after each disassembly
- Threaded holes for screws must always be cleaned (for example, with thread cutter)

Tunnel-side backrest trim, removing and installing







- Removal:
- Remove bolt - 7 -.
- Remove clip - 8 -.
- Remove tab - 9 - with clip.
- Remove backrest panel on tunnel side - 3 - to side.
- Installing:
Installation is reverse of removal.

Removing and installing backrest panel on door sill side
- Removal
- Remove backrest adjusting wheel - 10 -.
- Release clip - 11 - (2x).
- Remove backrest panel on door sill side - 4 -.
- Installing:
Installation is reverse of removal.
