Brake pads (Brembo 18"), removing and installing

Special tools and equipment





^ VA G 1331 Torque wrench
^ Piston resetting tool

Removing

Note: If re-using brake pads, mark them so that they can be installed in their original positions to prevent uneven braking.

- Remove wheels.





- Secure brake disc with a wheel bolt.





- Detach connector -1- from brake pad wear indicator.
- Slightly lift up the positioning tag on lower part of connector -2- and then turn it through 90-.
- Remove lower half of connector out of holder.





- Drive out pad retaining pins (arrows).





- Remove retaining pins (arrows).

Note: Before pushing back piston, siphon some of the brake Fluid out of the brake Fluid reservoir. Otherwise, especially if reservoir has been topped off, Fluid will overflow and cause damage.

- Press off the brake pads from the brake disc and remove them from the brake caliper housing.

Installing

Note: Press piston back into caliper housing using resetting tool before inserting new brake pads. Before pushing back the piston, draw off brake Fluid out of the brake Fluid reservoir with a bleeder bottle. Otherwise, especially if reservoir has been topped off, Fluid will overflow and cause damage.

- Press piston back.
- Insert brake pads into brake caliper housing

Note: The brake pads are directional, note the markings on the damping panel.





- Install retaining springs (arrows).
- Press retaining springs downward and drive in pad retaining pins to stop.





- Insert the brake wear indicator connector and line -arrow- into the bracket at the brake caliper.
- Plug in the brake wear indicator connector.
- Install wheels.
Tightening torque 120 Nm

Note:
^ After installing brake pads and before moving vehicle, depress brake pedal several times firmly to properly seat brake pads in their normal operating position.
^ After changing brake pads check brake fluid level.
