Suction Jet Pump With Manifold Test - Vehicles With 8-Cylinder-naturally Aspirated Engine (with Open-loop System)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items
- V.A.G 1318 with V.A.G 1318/10 and V.A.G 1318/11
- V.A.G 1348/3A with V.A.G 1348/3-2

Test conditions:
- Battery voltage at least 12.7 V
- Safety device S228 OK. (card location 28)
- Fuel filter OK

Test sequence
- Open fuse box cover on left side of the instrument panel.
- Pull fuse No. S228 off fuse holder (left row, 5th large fuse from top).







- Connect remote control V.A.G 1348/3A with adapter lead V.A.G 1348/3-2 to right-hand fuse socket of fuse No. 28 -arrow-.
- Connect clamp to vehicle battery (+).
- Remove filler cap from fuel tank filler neck.

WARNING: Fuel supply lines are under pressure. Before loosening any lines, cover the connection with a rag. Release the pressure by slowly separating the connection.







- Remove fuel return hose -2- from the line adapter at the fuel distribution pipe







- Attach V.A.G 1318 with adapters V.A.G 1318/10 and 1318/11 and an auxiliary hose between fuel distribution pipe -1- and return hose -2-.
- Press the remote control switch for several seconds and observe the pressure reading
- Desired value: 0.8 ... 1.3 bar

Desired value is fallen below or:
- Replace the suction jet pump and the distributor connector..
- Install fuel return pipe with new hose clip.
