Affected Vehicles

37 Tiptronic function inoperative (DTC P1753 in TCM)

Condition





- Sporadically, the gear lever electronics become inoperative after switching on the headlight in the gearbox position S (Sport) or Manual (Tiptronic gate). Symptoms are:

- All segments of the gear display in the combination instrument are illuminated.

- The manual Tiptronic function is inoperative.

- DTC P1753 (Tiptronic Switch -F189- implausible signal) is stored in the transmission control module (TCM).

- After switching the ignition off and on, all functions are operative.

- The gear level electronics remain operative when the car is in Drive.

Technical Background

Switching on the headlights causes a low voltage, which leads to the failure of the diagnosis signal of the gear lever circuit board. The TCM recognizes a fault in the gear lever electronics and stores DTC P1753.

Install a new gear lever circuit board (4B0 713 243 E) according to the workshop manual.
