Cover And Upholstery For Backrest, Removing And Installing

WARNING: Observe all safety precautions for side airbags.







1 - Backrest cover

Removing
- Move seat fully up.
- Remove seat.
- Remove backrest.
- Remove headrest.
- Remove side airbag.
- If installed, disconnect backrest heating element wiring.
- Pry grip channel for cover - 6 - at bottom on backrest shell at one corner from insertion channel.
- Pull grip channel - 6 - completely out of insertion channel. The two clamps on both sides of retaining strip cannot be used again.







- Detach both lower insertion strips - 5 - and - 7 - on backrest frame.
- Detach the longer, inner insertion strips for cover - 3 - from separate insertion strip on backrest frame.
- Pry out outer grip channel on cover - 2 -from insertion channel on backrest shell. The five clamps on the grip channel can no longer be used.
- Detach cover at bracket for side airbag unit - 4 -.
- Turn back cover - 1 - and pull cover upward.
- Detach the small insertion strips - 8 -between the cushions.
- Remove cushion together with cover - 1 -.
- Detach grip channel - 9 - in area of label from cushion and remove cover - 1 -.

Installing







NOTE:
- Clamps on grip channels that secure the cover to the backrest shell must be replaced during installation.
- The eyelets with washers for the headrest guide in cover must be replaced.
- Attach a clip on each end of the lower grip channels to secure the backrest shell.
- Attach a clip on each end of the upper grip channels to secure the backrest shell.
- Position the other three clips evenly on the upper grip channels.
- Install the eyelets with washers for headrest guide such that the eyelets attach to the holes in the cushion.

4 - Grip channel in area near side airbag module
5 - Insertion channel, lower, for attachment to backrest frame
6 - Grip channel, lower for insertion in the backrest shell.
7 - Insertion channel, lower, for attachment to backrest frame
8 - Insertion strips, upper (2x)
9 - Grip channel near label
