Right cylinder head, removing

Special Tools and Equipment





^ 3452 polydrive key

Removing
^ Engine installed.

Note: All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.

- Remove intake manifold, Refer to Intake Manifold, Service and Repair.

Note: Place a rag under the hydraulic pressure lines, to catch escaping hydraulic fluid.





- Remove power steering pressure line from vane pump at cylinder head and at rear of coolant pipe (arrows).
- Lay pressure line to side.





- Disconnect electrical harness connectors -1- and -2- at Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor -G40- and Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor 3 -G300-.
- Toothed belt, removing, Refer to Timing Belt, Service and Repair.
- Remove camshaft gears from right cylinder head.





- Unscrew bolts -1- and remove bracket with idler roller.
- Unscrew bolts -2- and remove toothed belt guard and rear right.





- Remove bolts -3- and remove combination valve for secondary air injection with flange from cylinder head.
- Unbolt coolant pipe at rear of cylinder head (bolts -1- and -2- ).

Notes:
^ Coolant pipe remains installed.

- Remove nut -2- for front exhaust pipe/right exhaust manifold which is accessible from top.

Note: Illustration is shown with engine removed.

Note: Flex joint in front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10, otherwise it may be damaged.





- Disconnect exhaust system at right double clamp (right arrow).





- Remove nuts -1- and -3- for front exhaust pipe/right exhaust manifold, which are accessible from bottom.

Note: Illustration is shown with engine removed.

- Press front exhaust pipe off of exhaust manifold.





- Follow sequence 1 to 8 when loosening cylinder head bolts.
- Carefully remove cylinder head.
