Adaptation After Replacing Instrument Cluster and ECM

Adaptation (function 10)

Using the adaptation function, the following changes can be made and saved.
- Perform adaptation of vehicle keys
- Adaptation after replacing instrument cluster.
- Adaptation after replacing Engine Control Module (ECM).
- Adaptation after replacing instrument cluster and Engine Control Module (ECM).

Adaptation after replacing instrument cluster and the Engine Control Module (ECM)

CAUTION!
If instrument cluster and Engine Control Module (ECM) are replaced at the same time, all vehicle keys must also be changed.

The computational rule For the variable code is written into the transponder and locked during adaptation of the vehicle key. After this, these vehicle keys cannot be adapted to another immobilizer. If the instrument cluster and Engine Control Module (ECM) are both replaced together, the new immobilizer in the instrument cluster receives a different computational rule For the variable code. During adaptation, this new computational rule will be written into the Engine Control Module (ECM) and into the vehicle keys where it is also locked.

Requirements
- Ignition switched on.
- VAS5051 tester connected and vehicle On Board Diagnostic (OBD) selected See Page 01-290.

Procedure:
- Input VIN in instrument cluster (only possible with VAS5051 tester).
- Perform adaptation after replacing Engine Control Module (ECM) page 01-163.
- Perform adaptation of vehicle keys = page 01-142

CAUTION!
Entering VIN into the instrument cluster is only possible with the VAS5051 tester.

Display on VAS5051:

- Press selection -1- of vehicle system "17 - instrument cluster"
- Wait until the next indication appears on display.

Display on VAS5051:

1 - Control module identification of the instrument cluster
2 - Control module identification of immobilizer
- Click on -> button

Display on VAS5051:

- Select diagnostic function "transfer VIN" in selection -1 -.
- Enter the vehicle's VIN and confirm.
- Perform "Adaptation after replacing Engine Control Module (ECM)" See page 01-163.
- Adapt all vehicle keys See page 01-142.

Instrument cluster, Engine Control Module (ECM) and vehicle keys are now adapted and the vehicle can be started.
