Side window, removing and installing

NOTE: Cut out side glass using tool 357 845 955 and with special tool VAG1655.

1 - Hollow rivet
2 - C-pillartrim
- Before removing trim, disassemble C-pillar and remove door seal in area of trim
- To remove, drill out rivet heads, bottom out rivet shafts and remove trim toward front
3 - C-pillartrim
- Remove film from self adhesive before assembly
4 - Side Window
- PU coating sprayed on







NOTE: Replacement windows are supplied with a hardened adhesive bead. This is to be cut back to approx. 2 mm (0.079 in.) before applying adhesive. Apply adhesive to freshly cut residual bead.

CAUTION:
- Do not cut adhesive bead up to the PU.
- If it has been cut back to the PU, it cannot be bonded with workshop materials.

- Before removing, apply adhesive tape to protect paint from damage at overhang to side panel

WARNING: To avoid paint damage when removing and installing trim strip, cover the lower part of the side window and the side part of the car in the window area with adhesive tape.

- Pry trim strip from C-pillar beginning carefully from clips - 3 -, then pull out trim strip from below.

Removing trim strip
- Slide in trim strip under roof trim strip to D-pillar and lock in place.
- After installing glass, clip trim strip onto retaining clips with even movements.
