Assembly Overview







1 - Side window
- Note different clearances between adhesive bead and edge of window:
- Dimension -a- = 7 mm (0.275 in.)
- Dimension -b- = 6 mm (0.236 in.)
2 - Backing
- Self-adhesive
- Before installing, remove protective foil and press onto window
3 - C-pillar trim
- To remove side window, drill out rivet heads, drive out rivet stems and detach trim
4 - Pop rivet
5 - Door seal
- Pull door seal off body flange in area of pop rivets at C-pillar

Undamaged side window, removing

- Remove C/D-pillar trim panel.







- Apply adhesive tape - 4 - to side panel to avoid damaging paintwork.
- Remove trim strip - 1 - at bottom from securing clips - 2 - and pull downward out from roof edging trim.
3 - Pop rivet







- Carefully remove roof trim strip - 1 - from securing clips using plastic wedge, starting from bottom.

CAUTION: Do not bend the roof trim strip.

- Lay cutting cord around side window as shown.
- Secure ends - x - and - y - in two pull handles from special tool VAG1351.







- Pull cutting cord in direction of arrow - A - using light sawing action, and cut through adhesive sealing material below at side panel and above at roof frame.
- Pull cutting cord downward through adhesive bead in direction of arrow - B -.
- Remove window from window opening.
