Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Tiptronic switch F189, removing and installing, 09L, 6 Spd. A/T AWD
^ Comprises 3 Hall sensors actuated by a magnet on the transverse slide of sliding cover
^ Also check that magnet is properly secured on transverse slide of sliding cover, replace sliding cover with guide if necessary.

Removing
- Remove selector mechanism cover.





- Press 4 locking hooks -arrows- inward and pull cover -2- off guide -1-.
- Take printed circuit with integrated Tiptronic switch F189 out of cover.

Note:
^ If necessary, the sliding cover with the magnet for the Tiptronic switch F189 can be removed as described below. However, as a replacement part the sliding cover is only available together with the guide.





- Carefully separate two halves of guide by levering them apart -arrows-
- Remove sliding cover with magnet for Tiptronic switch F189.

Installing
Installation is performed in reverse sequence. Note the following:
- Install selector mechanism cover.
- Install selector lever handle.
