Model(s):
See Table

Supersedes T.B. Group 01 number 04-03 dated Apr.16, 2004 due to change in requirements section of bulletin.

Condition

As of April 1, 2004 retrieval of Immobilizer Generation III codes using WIN DCS is no longer possible. Retrieval of the codes must be performed using GeKo and the VAS 5051.

Production

General Information

^ SSP 998303 VAS 5051 Online Connection contains information about the GeKo process, FAZIT database.

^ The new GeKo process will not display the actual Immobilizer code to the user. The system will download the code directly into the various control modules.

^ GeKo can only be accessed through either Guided Functions or Guided Fault Finding operating modes.

^ It is recommended to use the Guided Fault Finding operating mode for diagnosis, test plan, and adaptation before the Immobilizer generation III instrument cluster and/or engine control units are replaced.

^ If the Immobilizer Generation III instrument cluster and/or Engine Control Module has been replaced but not adapted for immobilization, follow the process in the Guided Functions operating mode.

^ If Immobilizer Generation III keys require adaptation, follow the process in Guided Functions operating mode.

Requirements

^ VAS 5051 (with current software) equipped with Ethernet card, connect to Dealer's Local Area network (LAN) and high speed Internet access.

^ Operator must have GeKo user ID and password.

^ All vehicle keys are required when adapting the instrument cluster or vehicle keys.

^ 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

^ All system DTC memories checked and erased.
