Front Seat With Malfunctioning Motor For Seat Fore-aft Adjustment Or Malfunctioning Control Module, Removing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required







- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

NOTE:
- If possible: Tilt seat up.
- Seat is shown without upholstery and without backrest in picture for the sake of a better illustration.







1 - Screws (4x)
- Tightening torque 17 Nm
2 - Motor mounting plate
3 - Screws, (2x)
- Tightening torque 19 Nm
4 - Seat pan upper frame

- Removal:
- Remove bolts - 3 - (2x).
- Fold seat all the way forward.
- Remove screws - 1 - (4x).
- Remove backrest with seat pan upper frame.

If control module is defective:
- Disconnect connector on seat fore-aft adjustment motor.
- Run fore-aft adjustment motor using an external power source until bolts are visible.
- Remove bolts.
- Remove control module.
- Installing:
Installation is reverse of removal.

2 - Longitudinal seat adjustment motor
If longitudinal seat adjustment motor is defective:
- Remove connector - 3 -.
- Remove bolts - 4 - (2x) at seat fore-aft adjustment motor.
- Disengage seat fore-aft adjustment motor - 2 - from both shafts - 1 - and - 5 -.
- Using a cordless drill and long shaft - 5 -, move both seat rails by sliding until the concealed bolts are visible.
- Remove bolts.
- Replace seat lower frame with fore-aft adjustment motor.
