Lighting - Headlight Range Control Light ON/DTC's Set

Affected Vehicles

94 Headlight range control warning light on





Condition

In vehicles with automatic self-leveling headlights, the warning lamp in the instrument cluster is on. The headlights function properly.

Technical Background

One of the following DTCs are stored in the fault memory of the headlight range control module, address word 55:

- DTC 01535 (Activation for headlight beam adjusting motor right -V49- short circuit to ground), or

- DTC 01535 (Activation for headlight beam adjusting motor right -V49- open / short circuit to B+).

These fault entries are often due to electrical contact problems.

Production Solution

No change.

Service

1. Check the wiring between the headlight range control module -J431- and the range control adjusting motor - V49- internal to the headlight assembly. Perform the wiring check as outlined in TSB 2013504 DTCs, sporadic - contact check.

In cases of poor contact at the A-pillar connector station, the wiring can be spliced according to the wiring diagram, bypassing the connector.








1. Inspect the harness connector contacts at the headlight range control module. Replace if necessary.
