Rear Transverse Link



Transverse links, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1332





Note:
^ Due to the inaccessibility of the inner bolt - 1 - when the vehicle is standing on wheels, the transverse link can only be removed after the subframe has been removed.
^ Perform wheel alignment after completing repairs.

Removing
- Remove subframe.
- Using a felt-tip pen or similar to mark position of eccentric bolt - 2 - on hub carrier/wheel bearing housing.
- Remove bolt connections - 1 - and - 2 -.

Installing

Note:
^ Replace bolts and self-locking nuts [] instructions in exploded views.
^ Do not interchange left and tight components. "R" or "L" are stamped on the back of the transverse link.





Installation position of transverse link on subframe
- Bolt transverse link - 2 - loosely to subframe.
- Lay a ruler or straightedge - 1 - flat on the mounting bracket of stabilizer bar - arrow -.
- Position transverse link so that the dimension a = 142 ± 1 mm is obtained.
- Secure transverse link to subframe in this position.





- Bolt hub carrier or wheel bearing housing to transverse link and tighten new nut to 20 Nm. Note installation position of eccentric bolt - 2 -.
- Install subframe.
- Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. The mountings of the suspension links must only be tightened when the suspension is in the curb weight position.
- Loosen and then re-tighten bolt connection - 2 -.
- Perform wheel alignment.
Wheel alignment must be performed on wheel alignment equipment recommended by Audi.
