Backrest Cover and Cushion

CAUTION!
Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.







1 Rear Backrest Cover

Removal:

- Remove seat: vehicles from November 2004 => [ Standard Front Seat ] Standard Front Seat, From November 2004.

- Remove backrest: vehicles from November 2004 => [ Backrest, Standard Front Seat ] Standard Front Seat, From November 2004.

- Remove headrest - 7 - by pressing button.

- Remove headrest guides - 8 - vehicles from November 2004 => [ Headrest Guides, from November 2004 ] Front Seat Covers and Cushion, Power Memory Seats.

- Pry out wire clips - 11 - (Qty. 3) at top of rear backrest panel - 1 -.

- Remove rear backrest panel - 1 -.

- Pry off grip channel - 12 - (Qty. 4) all around.

- Turn back backrest cover - 6 - and remove it.

2 Holding Frame

- Unclip clips - 14 - (Qty. 4).

- Pry off holding frame - 2 -.

- Remove nuts - 15 - (Qty. 2) of side airbag - 9 -.

- Detach side airbag - 9 - and feed cable through the opening.

- Remove clips of cable for seat heater - 16 - and side airbag - 17 - and remove side airbag - 9 -.

- Cut cable tie clips - 18 - (Qty. 2).

- Pry out grip channels and plastic clips.

- Remove backrest cover - 6 -.

- Remove upholstery - 3 -.

- Remove heated backrest - 5 -, refer to => [ Backrest Heating Element ] Backrest Heating Element.

Installing:

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:

- When installing and mounting backrest cables for side airbag and seat heater, ensure that no tension is applied to the cables.

9 Side Airbag

10 Plastic Clips (Qty. 2)

11 Wire Clips (Qty. 3)

12 Circular Plastic Strips (Qty. 4)

13 Airbag Connector

14 Clips (Backrest Frame) (Qty. 4)

15 Nuts (Side Airbag) (Qty. 2)

Torque 5 Nm.

replace after each disassembly

16 Seat Heating Cable

17 Side Airbag cable

18 Cable Tie Clips (Qty. 2)

Retaining Strips and Plastic Clips, Removing and Installing





Removal:

- Pry out grip channels - 1 - from plastic clips - 2 - using a screwdriver.

Installing:

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:

- Replace damaged plastic clips.
