Backrest Lock Release Cable
Front Seats
• From 06.2006, the usual wiring harness routing to connector station under front seat. Refer to => [ Connectors, Disconnecting ] Front Seats has been replaced with modular wiring routing => [ Modular Wiring Routing Assembly Overview, from June 2006 ] Front Seats.
• The modular wiring routing has not been implemented for all countries.
• Check version of front seat and of vehicle and perform repairs accordingly.
• Note the two possible versions of the modular wiring routing, Modular Light or Modular. Refer to => [ Modular Wiring Routing Versions ] Front Seats.
Backrest Lock Release Cable

• Removing
- Remove seat.
- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).
- Remove the backrest. Refer to => [ Front Backrest ] Front Backrest.
- Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ]Backrest Cover.
- Pry out the left and right circlips - 10 - (Qty. 4).
- Open the left and right Velcro fasteners - 9 - (Qty. 4).
- Disengage the side molding - 5 - (Qty. 2).
- Remove the lower molding - 8 - (quantity: 3).
- Disengage the left and right lower eyelets - 7 - (Qty. 2).
- Pry out the left and right cables from their retainers - 6 - (Qty. 2).
- Remove the cables - 4 - (Qty. 2) upward.
- Pull off the cover - 11 - in direction of arrow.
- Disengage the cables on the brackets -1- and -2-.
• Installing
- Install the cables for the backrest release in reverse order.
- Install the cables - 4 - (Qty. 2) with the adjusters - 3 - (Qty. 2). Make sure the left and right bolts unlock at the same time when the handle for the manual entry assist - 12 - is actuated.

• Commercially available according to the manufacturer instructions.
• Use only cushion clips.
