Backrest Lock Release Cable

• The seat is shown in the illustration without the seat pan.





1 - Cable adjuster (Qty. 2)

2 - Backrest lock cable (Qty. 2)

• Removing

- Remove seat => [ Seat ].

- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove backrest cover panel => [ Backrest Cover ].

- Pull the entry assistance handle and fold backrest forward.

- Disengage the left and right lower eyelets - 4 - (Qty. 2).

- Pry off the left and right mounts - 3 - (Qty. 2).

- Remove releases - 2 - (Qty. 2) upward.

- Pull off the cover in direction of arrow.

- Disengage the cables at the brackets - 5 - and - 6 -.

• Installing

• Vehicles through 05.2002, VIN: 8H 3K 002 450: to prevent the head restraints or backrest adjustment from malfunctioning, attach a cable tie - 7 -.

- Install the cable for the backrest release in reverse order.

- Adjust releases - 2 - (Qty. 2) with adjusters - 1 - (Qty. 2). Make sure the left and right bolts unlock at the same time when the handle for the entry assist is actuated.
