Activation of the heated rear window ( Z1), heated windshield (Z2), auxiliary heater (electrical or fuel drives) and the position of the convertible top in the Audi Cabrio





• Check the activation of the heated rear window. Refer to => [ Heated Rear Window, Testing ] Climatronic Control Module A/C Control Head Electrical Component Testing

• In the case of vehicles up to VIN "399999" of model year 2005 (in the Sedan and Avant) and "012912" of model year 2005 (Cabrio), the heated rear window ( Z1) is directly controlled by the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head (the relay that connects the current is installed in the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head)

• In the case of vehicles up to VIN "400000" of model year 2005 (in the Sedan and Avant) and "012913" of model year 2005 (Cabrio), the heated rear window ( Z1) is no longer directly controlled by the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head (a relay is not installed in the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head with a part number from index "AJ"). In these vehicles the heated rear window (Z1) is controlled via the rear window defogger relay (J9).

• The heated rear window stays switched on with outside temperatures up to 0 °C until ignition is switched off (heated rear window can be switched manually at anytime). If the temperature becomes greater than 0°C during a driving period, switch-off of heated rear window (Z1) occurs after the operating time stored in the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head has elapsed (approximately 12 minutes).

• Activation of the heated rear window (Z1) is automatically switched off at ambient temperatures greater than 0°C after expiration of the operating time (approx. 12 minutes) stored in the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head by the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.





• If no heated windshield (Z2) and no heated windshield control module (J505) is installed in the vehicle, "not installed" or "0" or " 00" is displayed.

• The heated windshield control module (J505) switches the approximate battery voltage to the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head output as long as the voltage at the heated windshield control module (J505 ) is greater than 12.70 V and the control module is not too hot.

• The Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head activates a transistor that halves the voltage at connector " C" terminal "8" if windshield heating is to be switched on. The heated windshield control module (J505) then switches windshield heating on.

• If the voltage falls below 12.7 V during heating of the windshield (vehicle electrical system voltage at the heated windshield control module (J505)) or if the heated windshield control module (J505) becomes too hot, a switch in the heated windshield control module (J505) opens and the voltage at the output to the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head becomes less than 5 V, and at the same time windshield heating is switched off by the heated windshield control module (J505).

• Note display only on the Audi Cabrio.

• If an open convertible top is detected on the Audi Cabrio, the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head changes the control characteristic curve of the A/C system (closed passenger compartment is no longer present).
