Fuel Filter, Fuel System without Return Flow
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Reservoir
Removing
Observe safety precautions. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Fuel Supply System.
Observe rules for cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Fuel Supply System.
- Remove right rear cover - 1 - next to fuel tank.
- Place drip tray under the fuel filter.
CAUTION!
Fuel system is under pressure! Before opening system, place clean rags around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
- Disconnect fuel lines - 1 -, - 2 - and - 4 - by pressing the release buttons.
- Remove bolts - 3 -.
- Remove fuel filter.
• Shown in illustration on a vehicle with front wheel drive.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
Installation position:
• The direction of flow is marked on filter housing with arrows.
• On vehicles with front wheel drive, connection "IN" for fuel supply line - 3 - must be at same height of the threaded connection on filter bracket - 2 -.
Distance between fuel return line at fuel filter and fuel tank.
• Front wheel drive: - a - = 6 to 10 mm.
• All wheel drive: - a - = 3 to 7 mm.
