Clutch With SAC Pressure Plate, LuK Assembly Overview
Clutch with SAC Pressure Plate, LuK Assembly Overview
• Refer to notes. Refer to => [ Clutch Repair Information ] 02XA Transmission.
• To work on clutch, you must remove transmission. Refer to => [ Transmission, 4-Cylinder, Removing ] or => [ Transmission, 6-Cylinder, Removing ] Transmission, 6-Cylinder, Removing.
• "SAC" stands for "Self-Adjusting Clutch".
1 Dual-mass flywheel
• Make sure centering pins fit securely
• Contact surface for clutch lining must be free of grooves, oil and grease
• Observe removal instructions, refer to => [ Double-Mass Flywheel, Removing ]
• Removing and installing, refer to => Engine Mechanical Engine
2 Needle bearing
• Removing and installing, refer to => Engine Mechanical Engine
3 Flywheel bolt
• Always replace
• Bolt length 22.5 mm 60 Nm plus an additional 90° turn
• Bolt length 43 mm 60 Nm plus an additional 180° turn
• Observe removal instructions, refer to => [ Double-Mass Flywheel, Removing ] Self-Adjusting Clutch, Sachs Assembly Overview
4 Clutch plate
• Installation position: Clutch disc lining must make full contact with flywheel
• "Getriebeseite" marking, if present, faces toward pressure plate or transmission
• Spring pack (coil springs) faces toward pressure plate or transmission
• Centering => [ Use the to center the clutch plate. ] Clutch With SAC Pressure Plate
• Lightly grease the splines => [ Clean input shaft splines and (in case of
used clutch plates) clean hub splines, remove corrosion and apply only a very
thin coating of on
the splines. Then move clutch plate back and forth on input shaft until the
hub moves freely on the shaft. Excess grease must be removed ] 02XA Transmission

• For installation instructions, refer to => [ Clutch with SAC Pressure Plate ] Clutch With SAC Pressure Plate
Checking Ends of the Diaphragm Spring
• Wear up to half the thickness of the diaphragm spring is permitted.
• When repairing, always allocate the clutch pressure plate and clutch disc using the engine code.
Checking Spring Connection and Rivet Connections
- Check the spring connections - arrows A - for damage and the rivet connections - arrows B - for secure fit.
• Pressure plates with severely kinked or broken off spring connections as well as loose rivet connections must be replaced.

A Straight edge
B Feeler gauge
• Pressure plate deformation up to 1.0 mm is permitted
Double-Mass Flywheel, Removing
CAUTION!
To prevent damage to dual-mass flywheel when removing, bolts - B - must not be removed using an air-powered or impact wrench. Only removing bolts - B - by hand is permitted.
- Rotate dual-mass flywheel - A - so that bolts - B - stand centered to holes - arrows -.
- When removing bolts - B -, make sure bolt head does not come in contact with flywheel - arrows - and thus damage it when turning.
