Four-Way Lumbar Support, Old Version






Standard Front Seats

From 07.2006, the usual wiring harness routing to connector station under front seat => [ Connectors, Disconnecting ] Standard Front Seats Overview has been replaced with modular wiring routing => [ Modular Wiring Routing, from 07.2006, Assembly Overview ] Standard Front Seats Overview.

The modular wiring routing has not been implemented for all countries.


Four-Way Lumbar Support, Old Version

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Special pop rivet pliers (V.A.G 1753 A)

Engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095)

Fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136)





1 Bracket

3 Lumbar support adjustment release

4 Four-way lumbar support

Removing

- Remove seat => [ Standard Front Seat ].

- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove backrest cover panel => [ Backrest Cover ].

- Pry fastening strips - 9 - (Qty. 4) out with a screwdriver.

- Drill out rivet - 8 -.

- Remove fastening strips - 11 - (Qty. 2).

- Disengage upper left and right four-way lumbar support - 4 - from backrest frame.

- Guide release - 3 - out of bracket -5-.

- Disengage release - 10 - on hook - 2 - out of four-way lumbar support - 4 -.

- Disengage the release cable - 10 - from the bracket - 1 -.

- Remove four-way lumbar support - 4 -.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Before riveting, a plastic washer must be placed between four-way lumbar support and backrest frame => [ Riveting four-way lumbar support to lumbar support
frame ].

before riveting, a plastic washer must be placed between four-way lumbar support and backrest frame => [ Riveting four-way lumbar support to lumbar support
frame ].

- Before securing rivet - 4 -, a plastic washer - 1 - must be placed between four-way lumbar support - 2 - and backrest frame - 3 -.

Removing





- Remove seat => [ Standard Front Seat ].

- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove backrest adjustment wheel => [ Backrest Adjusting Wheel ].

- Remove seat height adjustment handle => [ Seat Height Adjustment Handle ].

- Remove side trim on sill side => [ Side Trim, Sill Side ].

- Remove bolts - 2 - (Qty. 2).

- Remove four-way lumbar support - 1 -.

Installing

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. When doing so, note the following:

Tightening specifications for bolts - 2 -: 0.5 Nm
