Suspension Control Pressure Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Track Control Arm, Guide Link and Level Control System Sensor Assembly Overview
1 Subframe
• Assembly overview, refer to => [ Subframe, Engine Carrier and Stabilizer Bar Assembly Overview ] Subframe, Engine Carrier and Stabilizer Bar Assembly Overview.
2 Guide Link
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Guide Link ] Guide Link.
• Replace the hydraulic bushing if leaking, refer to => [ Guide Link Bushing, 75 mm ] Guide Link Bushing, 75 mm.
3 Bolt, 70 Nm + 180° additional turn
• Always replace.
• Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Front Suspension.
4 Self Locking Nut, 120 Nm
• Always replace.
• If the guide link is not replaced, remove the locking compound from the ball joint threads first.
5 Self Locking Nut
• Always replace.
6 Air Spring Damper
• See - item 24 - in => [ Mounting Bracket, Upper Control Arms and Air Spring Damper Assembly Overview ] Mounting Bracket, Upper Control Arms and Air Spring Damper Assembly Overview.
7 Self Locking Nut
• Always replace.
8 Wheel Bearing Housing
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Removal and Replacement.
• Wheel bearing Housing and Wheel Bearing Unit, Assembly Overview => [ Wheel Hub, Bearing and Housing Assembly Overview ] Wheel Hub, Bearing and Housing Assembly Overview.
• Wheel bearing unit, removing and installing => [ Wheel Hub and Bearing ] Wheel Hub and Bearing.
9 Self Locking Nut, 120 Nm
• Always replace.
• If the track control arm is not replaced, remove the locking compound from the ball joint threads first.
10 Self Locking Nut, 40 Nm + 90° additional turn
• Always replace.
• Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Front Suspension.
11 Connecting Link
• Right and left sides are the same.
• Installed position, refer to => [ Connecting Link Installed Position ] Subframe, Engine Carrier and Stabilizer Bar Assembly Overview.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Connecting Link ] Front Suspension.
12 Bolt, 40 Nm + 90° additional turn
• Always replace.
• Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Front Suspension.
13 Stabilizer Bar
• with cast rubber bushings and clamps.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Stabilizer Bar ] Stabilizer Bar.
• Note the different suspension versions. Refer to => [ PR Number Explanations ] Application and ID.
14 Track Control Arm
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Track Control Arm ] Track Control Arm.
• Bushing replacing, refer to => [ Track Control Arm Bushing ] Track Control Arm Bushing.
15 Self Locking Nut, 70 Nm + 180° additional turn
• Always replace.
• Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Front Suspension.
16 Bolt
• Always replace.
17 Bolt
• Always replace.
18 Self Locking Nut, 8 Nm
• Always replace.
19 Bolt, 90 Nm + 90° additional turn
• Always replace.
• Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Front Suspension.
20 Bolt, 5 Nm
21 Left Front Level Control System Sensor (G78) and Right Front Level Control System Sensor (G289)
• Note that there are different versions with a "long" or "short" lever.
Only use the same version of the sensor. Do not install both versions together.
• Only remove and install or replace completely. Refer to => [ Front Level Control System Sensor ] Level Control System.
• The sensor lever must face forward.
