ATF Breather Pipe






ATF Breather Pipe

If ATF flows out at underside of transmission bell housing, input shaft seal and/or ATF breather pipe may be leaking. Before replacing any parts, be sure to find actual cause of fault.

Input shaft seal must be replaced if leaking. Refer to => [ Input Shaft Seal ] Input Shaft Seal.

ATF breather pipe must be replaced if leaking.

Removing

Automatic transmission clean working conditions, refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

Transmission removed.

Different ATF breather pipes may be installed depending on the vehicle version.

Version 1

- Remove the bolt - B -.





- Remove the ATF bleeder tube - A - from the opening in the transmission.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

- Connect the new ATF breather pipe - A - all the way.

- Secure the ATF breather pipe to the transmission housing using the strap and bolt - B -.

Tightening Specifications






Version 2

This version was installed or retrofitted in certain markets.

- Remove the bolt - 1 -.





- Remove the retaining clips - 2 - and - 3 - from the transmission.

- Remove the ATF breather pipe - A - and the ventilation pipe - B - from the opening in the transmission.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

- Insert the new ATF breather pipe - A - all the way.

The ventilation pipe - B - must be pushed in all the way onto the ATF breather pipe - A -.

- Secure the ATF breather pipe to the transmission housing using the strap and bolt - 1 -.

- Install the retaining clips - 2 - and - 3 - all the way onto the ribs on the transmission housing cover.

- Install the ventilation pipe - B - by hand between the bolt - 1 - and the clip - 2 - making sure there is no tension on the clip - 2 -.

Tightening Specifications






Version 3

- Remove the retaining clips - 1 through 3 - from the transmission.





- Remove the ATF bleeder tube - A - from the opening in the transmission.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

The ventilation piece - B - must be pushed in all the way.

- Connect the new ATF breather pipe - A - and the ventilation piece - B - all the way.

- Press the clips - 1 through 3 - all the way onto the ribs on the transmission housing cover.

- Press the ventilation pipe - A - by hand between the retaining clips making sure there is no tension on the clips.
