CD Changer: Service and Repair






CD Changer

The removal and installation of disc drives in Media player, position 1 (R118)/Media player, position 2 (R119) are identical.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Radio removal tool (T10057)

Protective cap for cable connector (VAS 6223/9)

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

- If control module is replaced, select replacement function for appropriate control module in guided fault finding routine.

Use the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051) to do so.

Removing

CAUTION!
The lines to the CD changer MOST BUS are kept short.

Before removing the CD changer, the MOST BUS connector on the changer must be disconnected.

There is a service cover on the bottom side of the glove compartment for changing the climate control system pollen filter. If the service cover is removed, the connectors on the CD changer (R41) can be disconnected.

If there is no service cover, the glove compartment must be removed.

The service cover - A - is secured with 4 retainers - C - to the bottom of the glove compartment - B -. The retainers may be difficult to loosen.





- Loosen the retainers - C - and remove the service cover - A -.

- Disconnect all connectors on the CD changer.

- Attach the (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - onto the MOST-Bus connector - 2 -.





- Open glove box.

- Insert two clips on (T10057) in release slits on CD changer until they engage. Points on the grip eyelets of tool face outward.





- Remove CD changer from mounting frame.

- Remove (T10057), push locking tabs on CD changer to do so.

Installing

- Connect harness connectors.

- Slide CD changer into mounting frame until it engages.
