Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview






Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview

Power steering gear is completely removed and installed with tie rods.






1 Power Steering Gear with Tie Rods

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Power Steering Gear ] Power Steering Gear.

Servicing, refer to => [ Power Steering Gear ] Power Steering Gear.

There are different versions.

2 Bolt

30 Nm

3 Steering Column

4 Gasket

Note installed position.

5 Bolt

60 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

Follow tightening sequence. Refer to => [ Tightening Sequence: ] Power Steering Gear.

6 Bulkhead Boot

Check for tears and scuffing.

Note installed position.

7 Bolt

5 Nm

For adjusting track constants "S".

Always replace if removed.

8 Bolt

9 Nut

50 Nm

Self-locking

Always replace if removed.

10 Wheel Bearing Housing

11 Return Hose

Note the installation location on the steering gear.

There are different versions.

12 Pressure Hose

Note the installation location on the steering gear.

There are different versions.

13 Banjo Bolt

47 Nm

Always replace if removed.

14 Seal

Always replace if removed.

15 Seal

Always replace if removed.

16 Seal

Always replace if removed.

17 Seal

Always replace if removed.

18 Banjo Bolt with Check Valve

35 Nm

Always replace if removed.

19 Bolt

60 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

Follow tightening sequence. Refer to => [ Tightening Sequence: ] Power Steering Gear.

20 Cylinder Bolt

23 Nm

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Centering Steering ] Procedures.

21 Tie Rod

Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Tie Rods ] Tie Rods

22 Tie Rod End

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Tie Rod Ball Joint ] Tie Rod Ball Joint.

23 Bolt

90 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

Follow tightening sequence. Refer to => [ Tightening Sequence: ] Power Steering Gear.

Line Installation Location on the Steering Gear






Bulkhead Boot Seal Installation Position






- Install the boot - 1 - into he plenum chamber bulkhead so that the marking - arrow B - points downward vertically.

- Install the seal - 2 - into the bulkhead boot - 1 - so that the marking - arrow A - points downward vertically.
