Fuel Pump Electrical Test, TFSI and 6-Cylinder
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Remote Control (V.A.G 1348/3A) with Adapter Cable (V.A.G 1348/3-3)
• Hand-Held Multimeter (V.A.G 1526C)
• Connector Test Set (V.A.G 1594C)
Procedure
Observe test conditions, refer to => [ Test Conditions ] General Information.
- Remove rear seat bench.
- Unclip catches - arrows - of right connector flange cover.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector - arrow - at locking flange.
- Connect (V.A.G 1348/3A) with (V.A.G 1348/3-3) with an adapter cable from (V.A.G 1594C) at terminal - 1 -.
- Cover the second connector terminal of adapter cable (V.A.G 1348/3-3) with insulating tape - arrow - to prevent short circuit.
- Connect contact - 5 - to vehicle ground (GND) using a jumper cable from the (V.A.G 1594C).
- Connect alligator clip to battery positive.
- Press the switch on the remote control.
• Running noise of pump must be audible.
• Fuel pump runs quietly. Avoid surrounding noises while testing the fuel pump.
If no operating noise can be heard:
- Install the fuel delivery unit. Refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel Delivery Unit.
- Check if the electrical wiring between the flange and fuel pump is connected and has continuity.
If no malfunction is detected in the wires, the fuel pump is faulty. Replace the fuel delivery unit.
- Install the fuel delivery unit => [ Installing ] Fuel Delivery Unit.
