Four-Way Lumbar Support, Version 2
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Special Pop Rivet Pliers (V.A.G 1753A)
• Drill
• Drill bit dia. 7 mm
• Protective eyewear
Removing
- Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ] Backrest Cover.
- Pry out peripheral fastening strips with a screwdriver.
- Insert foil between upholstery and backrest frame to protect against metal particles.
- Drill out rivet - 1 -.
- Disconnect the frame for the upper left and right four-way lumbar support - 5 - on the springs - arrows -.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors - 2 - and - 6 - on the motors for the lumbar support adjustment.
- Disconnect Velcro connector between four-way lumber support - 3 - and backrest upholstery - 4 -.
- Remove four-way lumbar support.
Installation
Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Lay plastic film - 1 - over Velcro strips - 2 - on four-way lumbar support. Secure the plastic sheet on the four-way lumbar support.
- Make sure the four-way lumbar support is attached to four-way lumbar support frame with assembly fastener - 3 - or a suitable pin.
- Position lumbar support frame behind backrest and engage lumbar support frame at top left and right in mounts on frame.
- Rivet the lower frame for the four-way lumbar support to the backrest frame.
- Before securing rivet - 4 -, a plastic washer - 1 - must be placed between four-way lumbar support - 2 - and backrest frame - 3 -.
- Remove plastic film between backrest padding and four-way lumbar support.
- Press four-way lumbar support Velcro fastener onto backrest padding to secure.
- Connect electrical connectors to lumbar support adjustment motors.
