Transmission, Securing to Engine/Transmission Holder

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Holding Plate (VW 309)

• Holding Fixture (VW 313)

• Transmission Support (VW 353)

• Holding Fixture (VW 540)

Attach Transmission Horizontally

- Secure transmission on the (VW 540) - arrows - and place in the (VW 313) or the (VAS 6095).






- Use the shop crane (VAS 6100) for installation. Refer to => [ Transmission, Transporting ] Transmission, Transporting.


Center of gravity of transmission is outside center of rotation at holding fixture. To prevent back swing, a second technician must hold transmission housing when rotating the transmission on the transmission support.

• Vents for the transmission housing must be closed before turning a filled transmission on the engine/transmission stand so that the oil pan faces upward.

Secure Transmission in Vertical Position

- Mount the transmission to the (VW 353) and insert the (VW 309) into the (VW 313) or the (VAS 6095).
