Right Flange Shaft
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Needle Bearing Drift (VW 295)
• Slide Hammer-Complete Set (VW 771)
• Retainer (3419)
• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
• M10 nut, quantity: 2
Removing
- Remove the right front wheel.
- Remove the right drive axle cover - 1 - inside the wheel housing.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the heat shield from the right drive axle.
- Remove the right drive axle from the transmission flange shaft and move it back.
- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.
- Install the threaded eye from the (3419) into the threaded hole in the right flange shaft with 2 M10 nuts - 1 -.
- Position the (VW 771) with the pulling hook (VW 771/13) on the threaded eye and remove the flange shaft.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
• Replace the circlip on the right flange shaft.
- Clamp the flange shaft in a vise with jaw protectors. Remove the old circlip from the groove in the flange shaft using the new circlip - A -.
- Drive the right flange shaft in using the (VW 295).
- Install right drive axle.
- Install the drive axle heat shield => [ Driveshaft Heat Shield - Tightening Specification ] Transmission, Installing.
- Gear oil level in front final drive, checking and topping off. Refer to => [ Gear Oil Level in Front Final Drive, Checking and Filling ] Gear Oil Level In Front Final Drive, Checking and Filling.
