MMI Radio, Maximum Vehicle Equipment, from September 2008

The radio (R) is located behind the luggage compartment left side trim.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Protective cap for cable connector (VAS 6223/9)

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

- If control module is replaced, select replacement function for appropriate control module in guided fault finding routine.

Use the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051) to do so.

Removing

The infotainment rack must first be removed.

Remove the digital sound system control module (J525) and its mount, where applicable.

- Open left luggage compartment storage bin.

- Disconnect the connectors on the digital sound system control module.

- Attach the (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - onto the MOST-Bus connector - 2 -.





- Remove the nuts - 1 - and screws - 3 - (3.5 Nm) on the bracket - 2 - and lift the bracket with the digital sound system control module into the luggage compartment.





- Remove the nuts - 1 -, - 2 - and - 4 - (3.5 Nm) on the infotainment rack - 3 -.





- Move the infotainment rack - 3 - into the luggage compartment. Disconnect the connectors.

- Disconnect the connectors on the radio.

- Attach the (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - onto the MOST-Bus connector - 2 -.





- Press the left and right tabs - arrows - on the radio and remove the radio - arrow - from the infotainment rack.





Installing

- Install in reverse order.
